The Monastic Fraternity of Jerusalem lives in the center of the city of Strasbourg, an area listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1988. Many tourists and pilgrims are drawn here.
The Monastic Fraternity of Jerusalem is a community of brothers and sisters. Wherever they live, they come together to sing the offices of Morning prayer, of Middle of the day, and of vespers. This adds to the beauty of the liturgy, an essential element of the Monastic Fraternity of Jerusalem. Taking particular care of the liturgy is part of the “oasis of prayer, of silence and of peace” in the heart of the towns, in the heart of the world, all the while staying in “the heart of God”. Young renewal communities, the Fraternities are particularly attentive to the city dwellers as well as the tourists, announcing the greatness of the love of Christ by their presence and their choice of life-style. Mont Saint Michel, Vézelay, Paris, Strasbourg, Florence…They live and work in each of these cities. All while leading the community life of contemplation, they go out into the world and serve the world through their work. Divine offices, Devotion of the Holy Sacrament and lectiodivina being their priorities, they must find a professional life that is compatible with the life in the community. They offer sessions of iconography, welcome willingly those who come on retreat and are pleased to share the beauty of their liturgy with those who so desire.
Strasbourg, with its huge religious patrimony, is an unavoidable step of your religious travel to France.
