Nevers is 2 hours north of Clermont-Ferrand and 2 ½ hours from Paris. Pilgrims come here from around the world. Saint Bernadette of Lourdes lived here in the convent of the Daughters of Charity for the last years of her life. The Daughters of Charity continue to welcome at the sanctuary the pilgrims coming through Nevers and to work with the poor throughout the world.
The cathedral has architectural features of interest. There are two choirs, one is Romanesque and one is Gothic. Generally a Gothic choir replaced a Romanesque one but here one faces the other.
